After improving his record on the eve of France's 100 meters Sunday Christophe Lemaitre won the 200 meters in Stockholm at the European Championships team in 20.28 seconds, 12 hundredths of more than the national record he shares with Gilles Quénéhervé.
"This is only my second 200 this season, so I'm happy with my time," he was congratulated after beating the record of the event despite the rain and wind.
Saturday, the sprinter from Aix-les-Bains, just 20 years old, had run the 100 meters in 9.95 seconds, a hundredth of a better than June 7, at a meeting of Montreuil.
